Interviews / Radio
From the San Marcos Scene, September 2003
Admittedly, it took a little bit of time for me to warm up to this album, but once I did warm up, I knew I was a lovestruck fan
of Robbie and the Robots. Lead singer Robbie Doyen's slightly whiny vocals slowly became endearing, and the devastatingly
simple lyrics gradually remind you of the comversations you had (or have) with your college roommates. The music wound up
being a delighful mix of surf-rock, geek-rock, and pretty much every other kind of rock. There's no pretense to Robbie's style
of music. Both lyrically and musically, it doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. It is what it is, and what it is
happens to be very good, indeed.
